I'm sure I'm not the only person out there who wants to fall in love and have the same person fall in love with you. I mean, what would be better than that? I was reading this random person's xanga, and she talked about the times she thought she fell in love and etc.. Well the jist of it is that she fell too fast and got hurt a bunch of times and tried to move on by giving people more and more chances. It never occured to me how risky love is.. I'll bet that when I do fall in love for the first time, I'll be the one who will get hurt. I mean it's probably better than breaking someone else's heart right? The more I think about falling in love, the more the idea of love scares me. Isn't it quite shocking that I never thought about getting hurt? I guess it's because I've never even been close to being in love. Major infatuation for one person of course, but come on, who hasn't? And in the end, or what I think was the end of the infatuation, I was so crushed. So imagine what would happen if I fell in love and then it ended. Seriously, the thought scares me so much.. I'm sure most of you will either say or think 'well the greater the risk, the greater the reward' and I think that love would be the best reward, but damn too great a risk to even consider sometimes eh?
I got a ride from Jeannie today and in the car, we talked about Jenn Hom and Kenneth, well how they were before it ended. He was just the opposite of the guys I know. It's one of the nicest guys I've ever met and from what I hear, he opened doors for Jen, carried her books, let her use his jacket in the rain and etc. It's like those perfect guys you see in movies. Now who wouldn't want to fall in love with someone like that right? But dude, it ended just like that.. It would be emotional hell for me if I was in her situation. I think the movie Love Actually portrays the different types of love and relationships very well. You guys should all go watch it. It's fucking heart warming yo.
Stolen from Eliza's xanga: my additions in italics
Love Lasts a Lifetime
There was the married couple (Alan Rickman & Emma Thompson) that are soley dedicated to eachother and their children, but go through hard times dealing with an affair. This was the most realistic one in my opinion. I'll bet thats the reason why a lot of couples stay together; because of their kids. -___-
Love American Style
Then there was the spontaneous "American Love" where the single guy that makes himself believe that he can't get a date because there's something wrong with the women around him, and only really looks for someone to 'shag'. Colin (Kris Marshal) quotes this in the movie "I am Colin, god of sex. I'm just on the wrong continent, thats all.".
Love and Politics
This is a deal where the Prime Minister (Hugh Grant) is faced to choose between the new house maid (Martine McCutcheon) he's secretly fallen for, or his dedication to his job. I like the concept of meeting someone and then chasing after them later.
Love at Work
The shy girl (Laura Linney) has a crush on this guy at work and everyone knows about it. Slow progression, but definitley contained some real life issues. When they do finally get together, she keeps getting interrupted. It shows how people have to sacrifice potential loves for other things in their lives.
Love is Akward
Two people meet and make conversation as they play parts in a movie as sex doubles. I mean, can situations get any more akward than that?! This totally exaggerates the fact that love is akward, but you really get the idea from it.
Love as a Second Language
The deeply romantic falling-inlove-with-a-foriegner kind of thing where Jamie (Colin Firth), a writer, falls for his Portuguese housekeeper (Lucia Moniz). This would go under the category of 'following your heart'. This is the one that I totally don't see as realistic, but everything is possible right? It just won't happen to mee..
Love Unspoken
The typical -- "I'm inlove with my best friend's girl" plot. Mark (Andrew Lincoln), Peter's best friend, gives off a vibe that he doesn't like Juliet (Kiera Knightly), but really is secretly inlove with her. I don't think it would definitely be love, but like a potential love situation. Because I don't understand how you can fall in love without talking to that person too often.
Love Rocks On
The hilarious Bill Nighy (Billy Mak) is a former herione addict trying to make a come back in the music industry. He's a weird character that goes through fame, media, and everything else with his manager. This portrays the friend relationship and even goes through all that corny shit that no one really admits but feels deep down inside. WORD.
Love is Elementary
With a pre-adolecent boy named Sam (Thomas Sangster) believes hes found "the one" (typical, the girl was the most popular girl in school). Daniel (Liam Neeson), Sam's step-father/widower helps him through his misery as they both deal with their "hopeless love" problems. In my case, it would be Love is Middle School! Or like freshman year in highschool.
