Random Thoughts # 6
People have always told me to look past the moment when making life decisions. I still don't really understand what that means. To me, all that really matters is how you feel at that very moment. The way you feel one moment has a great affect on how you will feel in the future. So in that sense, the past definitely dictates the future, but if that's the case, then it's hard to separate things strictly into past, present, and future. Rereading that, I still don't even know where I'm going with this post.
My favorite thing to think about is how everything is relative. Currently, because I'm doing APUSH outlines, I thinking about how we think of ourselves as civilized. But in some respect, we aren't really civilized because we will seem barbaric to the people who are forced to learn about us in their history class.
I also wonder if I actually formulate my own ideas. Maybe I just pick and choose from the crap I hear, see, and learn everyday. Do I really think about shit enough to come up with my own hypotheses? Because I feel like a fraud a lot of the time. When I totally jump on someone else's train, even though their points make a lot of sense, I can't help but feel like I could be better than that.
Someone's gotta fail for me to succeed. Just hope it doesn't flip and turn out to be me who fails for someone else's success.

I know exactly what you mean. Or maybe somewhere along our friendship you have influenced me to feel that way. I like to do things spur of the moment, and I love spontaneity. And I don't know. I remember you were talking about someone with me and how they never look to the future, I won't go into details. But anyway I think that's why people take risks and jump into something with their eyes closed. Wait. Nevermind.
You know sometimes I wonder if we'd ever be written into history.
I feel like a fraud a lot of the time too. DUDE. I remember having like 5 entries one after the other just following what you wrote on blogger.
