GGCC's New Year's Eve Extravaganza

My friend Vincent Mak invited me to his Church's (Golden Gate Christian Church) annual New Year's Eve Extravaganza. He actually invited me last year too, but I was really relunctant to go. I finally promised him I would go this year, and after that experience, I couldn't think of anything I would have rather done on New Years Eve.

I'll give a quick recap I guess.

I met Vincent at like 6:45 at his Church. It was raining so hard that my dad could barely see the road when we came.. I didn't take that as a very good sign. I had in my head the idea that I would feel awkward there the whole time. In reality, everyone was really nice. We ate dinner at a table with Mitchell's friend's friend.. They were rude bitches that basically ruined dinner for me. You're at this thing for free, they made you food, and you diss their efforts in front of another church member? People like that need help. Adam was late, so we made him stand and talk to us while I continued to eat dinner :D Well I eventually let him share my seat because I'm cool like that. ;D

Dinner was done, and we went up to the Sanctuary for entertainment and prayer I guess. My friend Mitchell was in practically every skit. I was really cool to watch him do all that stuff because I know he must have put in a lot of dedication to prepare for this day. I was in his Biology class last year, and I would have never thought that Mitchell would put that much dedication into anything! He was a lazy ass. :D That kind of opened my eyes. Everyone in the performances performed for one soul purpose.. To spread the message of God.. and they did it pretty darn well too.. Or well.. this was my first time at one of these things, so I thought it was still pretty great nonethless. We dedicated a long long time to Worship and Praise. I got really tired at that point... well my mind was totally for it, but my eyes were drying out. I shouldn't have slept so little the night before! -_-

I was freaking attentive throughout the entire thing. I don't know how people around me could talk.. But maybe this just had a different effect on me. If I wasnt so damn blind, I might have been able to see the performers' emotions even more.. but I just got a really amazing vibe off of them. I mean I've always believed in God.. As in ever since I've thought about religion, I've believed in God's existance you know? But I've occasionally had my doubts here and there. I think I've come to the conclusion that even if he doesn't exist, I'm going to believe that he does anyway.. because nothing bad can come from believing in something so good that it brings an entire room full of people together.

What I liked most about this experience is that we didn't have extremely long hours of prayer.. because I wouldn't really know what the heck to do. I liked this way of expressing their praise. I had an AMAZING time, and I will go back next year, and the year after that.. and so on.

One of the leaders or something.. Jeremy said that most people have the idea that everyone that is apart of a Church are really good people.. and that you have to be a perfect Christian. But in reality, the Church is filled with broken people, just like you, who are apart of this Church because they need guidance. I'll remember that.
