Bailey's antics...
"But as the war dragged on, Japan began to run short of men and yen..."
Bailey is usually hilarious with his stupid ass so-called metaphors like "harpoon of sarcasm" but damn it, that men and yen thing really pissed me off as I was reading. I'm really sensitive to Asian jokes in history. In fact, I'd rather not learn anything about any aspect of Asian history. I don't understand why people want an Asian History AP class at Lowell. I would never take it. I love European history 4eva!! <3
In case you're wondering why I'm so weird, here's my rationale: I don't like to learn about the mistakes that "my people" made or learn about any of the atrocities done on to "my people." It's a pride issue, most definitely. I guess it makes me pretty racist since I distinguish myself from white people, but iono. I can't really dignify my claim I guess.
To further showcase my extreme APUSH nerdism, I'd like to point out on page 528 under the section "Chester Arthur Takes Command" It says, "Arthur had no apparent qualifications for the presidency, though he was well endowed in other ways." hahahahaha. If you don't get the joke, I don't want you to talk to me until you find out why it is funny.
Man. I seriously love history. -_- I wish I could major in something history related! NO I'm not becoming a historian! But I'm incapable of memorizing so many facts and dates anyway.
