Does anyone else find it hilarious when Lucas tries to cry on OTH? good shit.
Today I asked my dad why he wasn't recruited to fight for the army in Vietnam. He told me that because he was legally a Chinese citizen, they couldn't legally draft him. He says that he's sure he would have died if he was drafted.
I told him about the nuclear attack threat and my dad asked/told me how I could trust my textbook since the writers weren't there, and each country writes what it wants to teach in their textbooks. I'm not sure why I disregarded that possibility when it comes to an American textbook. Why do I have this silly notion that American texts are less biased? I know they can't be when it comes to talking abou Vietnam.
I don't know if any of you guys know this, but I've avoided learning about the Vietnam war as much as I possibly could over the last few years. There was one year when Chris made a comment about the war, and I got really pissed at him. It was a defense mechanism, but I'm not sure what I was trying to defend.
It really pisses me off how little Vietnam war is talked about in Bailey. It was one of those half page sections. WTF? Yeah, talk about the height and weight of presidents, but don't talk about the Vietnam war? There you go. There's the bias.
Today I also realized how nice it is to be around people. On a good day, I'm actually really social. I forgot that for a while...
It seems that the impending strike will ruin all our plans for rainbow week. That makes me feel so... I don't even know how to describe it. Jack and I, but especially Jack, have spent so much time planning and preparing for rainbow week, and now it's all for nothing. We probably can't even see any of the events through. I know, there's a bigger picture to be concerned about, but I feel pretty discouraged. Am I allowed to cite this as another event explaining why the world hates me? Yes thanks.
I feel so freaking laconic right now. Fasho, throwing an SAT word at you guys. ha ha -_-
By the way, the SAT was horrible. It was easy at first, but I lost steam and Lowell Drum Corp started playing halfway through my second math section. Needless to say, I wasn't able to finish the section.

Bailey probably didn't include a lot of info on the Vietnam War because we're supposed to be focusing on American history; he didn't talk much about the Holocaust or any of the other atrocities that occured during WWII, either.
Schwarz told our class early last semester that we'd be learning and analyzing all the "global events" through the American perspective. Though he was saying it to warn us AP Euro-veterns to be open to a new perspective, I think it kind of explains the bias in Bailey's account of history.
Besides, with the AP test coming up so soon, Schwarz wouldn't have time to cover it in class and we'd have to learn about it on our own! -_-
but Vietnam WAS part of American history! only it wasn't that big in the greater scheme. Remember, it was only one part in the Cold War; there were many others. oh, and your flash drive sucks. =D
leslie
^ o hell no leslie, did you know she has TWO flash drives (at least) and both of them are nice. (i'm only defending her flash drives because i slaved my ass to wake up early in the morning to get her one)
