I've always known from my gut feelings that this summer would be important in shaping our future, meaning, the summer we need to get serious about studying for the SATs. I came into Sophomore year completely unprepare to face the responsibilities of school. Thus, my grades throughout the year did not meet my own academic expectations. But, I'm desperately hoping that it will give me a strong drive this summer to read more than just my summer reading books, actualy study for the SATs, and to return to Lowell ready to tackle Junior year, supposedly the most stressful year of highschool. I feel like I'm not doing everything in my power to prepare myself for the upcoming year. My lack of inspiration is holding me back from doing what I know I'll eventually have to do.
For a while now, I've had mixed feelings about my future due to my impressionability. There are days when I feel confident in my career choice, which is somewhat related to the psychological field, but my brother Henry can just say a mere "why the hell do you want to do that?" and I'll abruptly doubt my decisions and once again feel empty and without inspiration. I have friends who have REAL goals. For instance, my friend John aspires to become a doctor. I'm not sure what kind of doctor he wishes to become, but I do know that he has already taken steps to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor who can save lives and help people. Knowing his determined personality, I have faith that he will become famous for being a altruistic doctor. So from what I've said above, you can see why I'm not afraid to say that he is someone I admire and envy. What I believe I need is an ultimate goal in life, like John. I need to know what I want to become, so I can focus on the classes that will help me reach my ultimate goal. I don't want to just take a bunch of APs and Honors classes that I have no interest in or that won't help me achieve my "ultimate goal."
