In middle school, I think in 8th grade, Walgreens sold these porcelain piggy banks (I'm not sure if that's what the material is called). I remember going to Walgreens with Kristen and someone else that day. We were bored and decided to buy food before going home. I actually found the piggy banks first, but I didn't buy it that day. Back in middle school, I wasn't continuously broke either, so it's not even because I didn't have money. You see, back then, we weren't able to grasp the concept that goods are all mass produced and that everyone has the same stuff. For some reason, people actually resented each other because someone "bit off of them." It didn't seem ridiculous then, but I don't understand our old rationale at the moment. So back to my story...
Kristen has a thing for pigs. She likes to collect things. She got that habit from her mom, who has some amazing stamp collection. Kristen was also one of the people that hated when others copied her, so I "wasn't allowed to" buy a pig since she wanted it, even though I found it first. So you know what I did? I didn't buy it that day in front of her face. I went back a few days later, and picked one out for myself.
Later, even a few years later, I still really like that damn piggy bank. There's nothing exceptional about it, I just like it. But I have a feeling that I like it more because I partly purchased it as a sign of rebellion.
I forgot how twisted middle school was, too..
