Talking to my counselor this afternoon was more ambiguous and unproductive than talking to Karen about my college-related insecurities; it felt like she and I both had no idea what the hell we were talking about. I have to say that I'm more than disappointed in my 40 minute drop-by meeting with my counselor.
"You should look at colleges and pick a few to research."
Thanks I would have never thought of that!
"You can look at the different prerequisites for UOP to help you find out what it takes to get into dental school."
Sorry, but I'm way ahead of you lady. I already talked to my orthodontist and my dentist about this. Tell me something I don't already know!
"You can probably get into one of the UCs."
Obviously! My grades aren't THAT bad, so DUH I can get into a UC, but SHIT! Which one? Which is the hardest to get into? What are the acceptance percentages? GIVE ME SOME CONCRETE DETAILS DAMN YOU WOMAN.
COME ON. What kind of counselor gives you vague answers like that? I don't trust her at all. And the fact that she told me she has a lot of experience and that I should trust her in these areas makes me think that she's a fraud. She looks like she's just hanging out there in her office.
So far at Lowell, I've had three different counselors. My reg got dumped every year so far and she's the first counselor I've ever gone to talk to. That's what sucks most about Lowell; communication is impossible and not everyone has fair chances- even with shit like counselors who actually guide you.
She advised me to take the SAT I in April and once when we come back from summer. WTF? So basically I'll be screwed won't I? I don't need her fake optimism. I want the harsh realities damn it. It won't help me in the future to listen to all her "I'm sure you'll get in" bullshit.
I need to create some type of college porfolio or something... I need to know the minimum requirements for each school. How lame.
I'm done bitching.
