Right when I get all high and mighty about my perspective on friendships and keeping acquaintances, I find out that someone I know works for PWC, and another person who is trying to become a pastry chef. I lost touch with two friends who could have potentially connected me to the two industries that I am interested in at the moment.

Just when I feel like I was set and ready to brush off all the people in my life I "don't need," I am reminded how important it is to be friendly and kind in order to keep all these connections you make throughout your life. As difficult as it may be to be the bigger person in all situations, we all know that it will ultimately pay off in the end. Putting in that extra effort to be nice to people and keep them around is so important in building a network for the rest of your life. And isn't it easier to build from a pre-existing relationship than to go out and seek people to be your best friend? Some things are just better when they come naturally.

It's easier to just be nice most of the time. I need to constantly remind myself of that.
