Random Thoughts # 4
I think I annoyed the shit out of Schwarz today. Out of all my teachers, I think he has the biggest workload because 1) he has a volunteer TA 2) he has four APUSH classes 3) he grades carefully on DBQs and FRQs 4) makes his students who score under 70% on a quiz to go see him and discuss the quiz. 5) grades hard, so students constantly go into his office to ask about grades 6) have students like me who ask a million questions about their upcoming presentations.
I'm not sure why I'm always so concerned with my interactions with him, but it drives me nuts when I know I did something wrong. I guess that applies to any teacher.. but I think I respect him more than the rest of my teachers.
My English teacher is someone who I definitely respect but don't admire. I acknowledge that she is a nice person, but I don't think she's a good teacher. The amount of work she assigns as homework is more busywork than something that actually helps my writing. Her discussions are always so broad and we easily get off topic. I need a teacher who takes control of the situation. I remember Mr. Hathwell saying that he's the type of person to prepare for class right before class because he can't stand being in front of a room unprepared. I feel like my current teacher prepares a lesson plan in her head rather than practice it outloud.
I really miss the old GSA sponser, Ms. Blinick. I never had her as a teacher, but I think it was better that way. I liked that she was more our friend that guided us rather than an adult who makes us FEEL like we know less than them.
This year is just altogether different. And then next year, I'll feel exactly the same. I hate how we perceive things.
Today, when I walked into Psych class, I saw two neatly wrapped boxes on my desk. Karen bought me those Bic Round Stic Fine pens!!! :D :D :D Seriously, that made my day, Karen. Thank you so much! I won't need to buy pens for another few years!
School tears people apart. Sometimes, I get so heated when someone in my group won't cooperate that I say shit that I eventually regret. At Lowell everyone is hella "gaai gow" about everything. Kind of like.. "I already did this, you have to do this" or "You guys used my house, so I shouldn't have to do more work." I have to admit that I've said those things countless times, but I'm also the person that ends up volunteering to do the work when everyone else refuses to do it.
I don't understand people who are just so hardheaded that they can't interpret how someone is feeling through their actions. So many people are just oblivious to another's emotions. Why do I always feel so affected by everything. I overanalyze EVERYTHING! WHY?! I'm sure everyone else feels this way, too. Thats why it doesn't make sense.
I'm having one of those "I want to crawl into a hole" kinda days.
